Family Questions

Common Questions

When is the trip, and who can participate?
The Monroe + CSI trip runs at the same time as the RHMS trip. The trip is open to participants from all three schools: Monroe, CSI, and RHMS. Check the latest updates for meeting and travel details.
When can families register?
Sign-ups are live! Families can register now for the Monroe + CSI trip. Contact the trip team for the registration link.
Is the itinerary final?
The itinerary is mostly final. The Monroe + CSI trip will follow a rearranged and modified version of the RHMS itinerary. See the itinerary page for the current plan.
Who organizes and supervises the trip?
Mr. Ramos and Ms. Scheerer help organize the trip. Mr. Ramos will be traveling on the RHMS trip. The traveling chaperones include Ms. Wang and Ms. Grant. For trip questions, visit the contact page. Additional chaperone details will be shared as they are confirmed.
Will the MCSI and RHMS groups travel together?
The Monroe + CSI and RHMS trips will do the same activities, sometimes at different times. Parts of the tours may overlap. Both groups will likely stay at the same accommodations and will often visit the same restaurants.
How much does the trip cost, and what is included?

Pricing varies with the number of participants. If we reach 35 participants, the MCSI trip will cost the same as the RHMS trip. With fewer participants, the price increases.

The trip is all-inclusive, so no additional expenses are required outside the trip cost. Participants may choose to bring spending money for souvenirs.

What is the payment schedule?
The payment schedule is available on the tour company's registration website. Contact the trip team for the link.
Is this an official school or district trip?
No. The trip is privately organized with Junior Tours, rather than run by the schools or district.
How are students supervised during the day and overnight?

Students will have group captains and report to an assigned chaperone. At night, an overnight security company supervises the hotel hallways.

A small tape seal on each room door indicates whether it has been opened. The seal does not prevent students from opening the door or leaving, including in an emergency.

Which meetings and paperwork are required before the trip?

There are two required meetings before departure. Details for one are posted in Latest Updates. The other takes place on the Monday before the trip departs.

Families must complete an emergency contact and permission form, a medical permission form, and a district liability release form. The forms will be distributed at the second trip meeting and are due by the end of that week.

How are medications and dietary needs handled?

Chaperones handle medications. Emergency medications, such as inhalers and EpiPens, need to be provided in two supplies: one for the participant to carry and one for the assigned chaperone.

Families enter dietary needs on the tour company's website. Those needs are forwarded to the restaurants before the group arrives.

What if a participant may need to cancel?
Insurance options are available when signing up for the tour. If you think you may need to cancel participation, please review the insurance options and their terms during registration.
How will families receive updates during the trip?
Families may contact chaperones directly and can also contact their own children if they have phones. Mr. Ramos can send messages to participants, families, and emergency contacts through the tour company portal.
